Many teens look forward to their summer sleep-away resident camps because it gives them the opportunity to explore their interests. Overnight resident camps provide cabins, meals, and supplies so that children can focus on things like drama, music, performing arts, religious study, academic, and technology study, sports like swimming, horseback riding, tennis, and soccer, and outdoor wilderness adventures for scouts who like lakes and adventure. You can find many resident sleep-away camps listed in your online directory. Some people find that there are so many camps to choose from that it is difficult for them to decide which ones can give them the experiences that they want, so we give you a few questions to help you determine which ones are right for you and your children. First, ask the resident camps how long they have been in business. Those with several years of experience should be able to offer teens the services they need. Ask the overnight youth camps if they have programs that your teens and children would be interested in. You might have to travel to the camp, so make sure that they have ways for your teens and kids to keep in contact with you while they are away. Ask the youth camps if they have enough counselors to take care of your boys and girls so that they are safe and behaved while you cannot be there. Ask the camps if they include all fees for horseback riding, soccer, and other programs in their fees or if you will have to pay extra for some lessons.
